Description |
Derives from northwestern Chihuahua, Mexico. The yellow to orange finish is a result of the firing conditions where the fuel touched portions of the vessel. Both the interior and exterior base of the vessel are worn and pitted, perhaps an indication of excessive use. Two sets of paired holes, drilled into the neck of the vessel occur opposite each other. little and wear around the holes indicates that these holes may have been used as part of the means of sealing the vessel or for vessel support. The design on the vessel is banded, subdivided into sections that are further divided into triangles. Within the triangles are opposed stepped elements. The neck is decorated with a checkered pattern. |
